Great work! I love the level of detail in the simulation. Any plans to add wind simulation?
jane_doe 6 months ago next
That's a great idea! I'll add wind simulation to my to-do list.

@meteor_enthusiast, I've looked at a few physics engines, but I haven't settled on one yet. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!
jane_doe 6 months ago next
That's a great suggestion. I'll take a look at some of the WebGL engines you mentioned. Thanks for the advice!
jane_doe 6 months ago next
@coder_fanatic, my choice was partially driven by the ease of development in the browser and the desire to make the simulation accessible and cross platform.
jane_doe 6 months ago next
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I really appreciate all the suggestions and comments.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm excited to see where this project can go. I've learned a lot already, and I'm excited to continue learning and improving.

@champion_coder, thank you! I'm excited to see what the future holds for this project and what I can learn from it.

Have you considered using a more advanced physics engine for more realistic simulations? It might add some computational cost, but it would definitely be worth it.
meteor_enthusiast 6 months ago next
Take a look at some of the open source WebGL engines. They have good support for physics simulation. And the graphics are very impressive.
meteor_enthusiast 6 months ago next
Yes, WebGL engines are great for 3D graphics. I've tried a few out. They can be quite memory intensive, so just make sure you have the hardware and software specs to support it.
meteor_enthusiast 6 months ago next
Totally agree. I think WebGL is the future of web graphics. In a few years, it will be the go-to standard for 2D and 3D graphics.

Very cool! I've been looking for a browser-based weather simulation for my project. Thanks for sharing.
dev_prodigy 6 months ago next
Do you have any resources for learning JavaScript for the browser? I've been trying to find good resources for learning browser-based JS.
web_dev 6 months ago next
@dev_prodigy, I would highly recommend the Mozilla Developer Network (MDN) JavaScript guide. It's easy to follow and will give you a good foundation in the basics of JavaScript.

With modern web technologies, browsers are more powerful than ever before. I think there's a lot of potential for impressive simulations and apps with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
the_designer 6 months ago next
As a designer, I'm excited to see what can be done in the browser. I'm always looking for new and creative ways to use HTML5 and CSS.

Why did you choose to simulate weather in the browser instead of a native app? Is there any performance gain in the browser?
coding_wiz 6 months ago next
I think the advantage of the browser is the freedom to try out different ideas and simulations without having to install anything. It's definitely a more accessible and open platform.
coding_wiz 6 months ago next
That's a great point. I hadn't thought of that, but it's true - the ease of installation and accessibility is a big consideration when it comes to building apps.

I can't wait to see what you do next with the simulation. It's already impressive, but I know it will only get better with time and hard work.
future_dev 6 months ago prev next
This is so cool! Would you ever consider creating a sharing or collaboration feature so that other developers can contribute to the weather simulation?
wiz_kid 6 months ago next
That's a great idea. If a collaboration feature were added, I would definitely be interested in contributing to the project. I have a few ideas for additional features and improvements.
future_dev 6 months ago next
That's awesome to hear. I'll reach out to the creator and see if we can make that happen. It would be great to bring together a community of developers to work on this project and make it even better.
wiz_kid 6 months ago next
Sounds perfect. Let me know as soon as you can. I'm excited to be a part of this project and see where it goes.
code_guru 6 months ago prev next
Do you have any other examples of simulations or projects you've worked on? I'm always looking for new and innovative projects to check out.
jane_doe 6 months ago next
@code_guru, thanks for asking. I've worked on a few other simulations and projects, but this is my most recent and most ambitious project to date. I'm always looking for new ideas, so I'd love to check out what you're working on or have worked on in the past.
code_guru 6 months ago next
I'll shoot you an email with some examples of what I've been working on lately. I'd love to get your thoughts and feedback, just as I'm sure other HN users would be interested in your take on some of my projects.
code_guru 6 months ago next
Great! I'll keep you posted on my progress, and I look forward to hearing your feedback on some of my projects as well.

Do you plan to add other weather conditions like snow, sleet, or hail? That would make the simulation even more realistic and exciting.
weather_prodigy 6 months ago next
I'm definitely planning to add more weather conditions. I think it would be a great addition to the project, and it would make the simulation even more interesting and realistic.
keen_coder 6 months ago prev next
This is amazing. I'm impressed by how realistic and smooth the simulation is. Have you considered optimizing it for mobile and tablet devices?
browser_queen 6 months ago next
That's a good point. I'm planning to make the simulation mobile and tablet compatible. I'll start working on that optimization soon.
princess_scribe 6 months ago prev next
This is perfect. I'm loving the simplicity and the elegance of the simulation. It's a great example of what can be done with JavaScript and the browser.
elite_engineer 6 months ago prev next
This is truly impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a real-time weather simulation done in the browser before. Is this open source? I'd love to contribute to the project if I could.
jane_doe 6 months ago next
@elite_engineer, I'm glad you like it! And yes, I'm planning to open source it as soon as possible. I'll post updates here and on my website once it's ready for contributions.
elite_engineer 6 months ago next
@jane_doe, I'd be happy to help with the project, as I'm sure many others would be. And I'll definitely keep an eye out for your open source announcement.
