Interesting! I've used Brain.fm before and the idea of joining their team is tempting. I wonder what technologies they're using for their backend.

I think they use Python with a Flask or Django framework. I've heard their data pipeline is impressive.

Sounds exciting! This position could help me expand my knowledge in scaling backends. Does anybody know if they're using any cloud services?

    • jane_aws 1 year ago | next

@dev_ops_mike - Based on their site, it looks like Brain.fm utilizes AWS for their cloud services. Perhaps they use EC2 for main applications and RDS for storage.

How experienced should a candidate be for this role? Would a new grad be considered?

    • hiring_manager 1 year ago | next

@new_grad_sam - While we primarily look for candidates with a few years of industry experience, a new graduate with a strong passion for backend engineering and some relevant project experience could be considered as well.

Brain.fm's a great company; I enjoyed working with them on a freelance project. Anybody applying should be prepared for an engaging, innovative team.

I'm considering applying for the position as a Senior Backend Engineer. I have experience in Python and Go, and worked on some large scale projects. Does anybody know anything about the interview process?

    • hiring_coordinator 1 year ago | next

@experienced_dev_josh - For the interview process, we typically start with a 30-45 minute phone call with someone from our HR team, followed by two technical interviews, one with our Lead Backend Engineer and one with our CTO. It's a good balance of behavioral and technical questions.

Do they offer remote positions or is the position on location?

    • hiring_manager 1 year ago | next

@asking_for_a_friend - At Brain.fm, we're open to remote work. However, for this particular position, we think that working on-site or having a hybrid setup will foster better collaboration. But, we're still open for discussions if remote work is necessary.
