@erika_k, thanks for the chuckle! As for your question: I think the researchers are well aware of overfitting issues and have incorporated various techniques to minimize it in their new algorithms. Statisticians have developed numerous regularization methods to navigate the bias-variance tradeoff.

@newbie_in_ai, I'll give it a shot! Group normalization is a technique that normalizes activations over some independent groups within each mini-batch, making training faster and more stable. Batch normalization, on the other hand, normalizes over each activation in a mini-batch, making the model less sensitive to initialization. It did rule in the early days, but group normalization and weight normalization followed suit based on research challenges and findings. Hope this helps!

There have been notable advances in model interpretability. Techniques such as SHAP values, LIME, and saliency maps can provide us with valuable insights into the reasoning behind predictions and decision-making. There's always room for improvement, but we're getting there!
