Nice work on creating a self-hosted YNAB experience! I love the idea of having more control over my personal finance data.

I've been looking into setting up a self-hosted solution for various applications. Can you share more about the setup process for MyYNAB?

I recently set up MyYNAB for my family of four, and it's been awesome for managing our expenses and tracking progress. Setup took about 30 minutes, mostly due to configuring our firewall, DNS, and SSL certificates. The actual install process was straightforward, and there are extensive docs available.

Has anyone experienced issues with security concerns and self-hosting? I would dread mismanaging my financial data security.

When self-hosting, always stay updated on security patches and harden your server configuration as best as you can. Keep backups too, just in case. And don't forget to use a reputable firewall, VPN, and a reverse proxy like NGINX for SSL termination.

I tried YNAB and didn't like how they managed subscriptions, so a self-hosted approach seems ideal. I'm excited to give this a try!

I've wanted to use YNAB for a long time, but my preference leans more towards owning and managing my data rather than trusting a third-party. I'll have to check this out!

I've been diligently budgeting on spreadsheets for decades. It's a bit nostalgic but effective. Do you feel MyYNAB is user-friendly enough for spreadsheet die-hards?

I made the switch from spreadsheets to YNAB a few years ago, and I have no regrets. I still use Google Sheets for some tracking, but I can't miss the benefits of YNAB like automated account refreshes, and reconciliation. MyYNAB would provide the same features in a self-hosted setup.
