SkyFlow is hiring a Senior Software Engineer! Seems like a great opportunity for someone looking to work in data-centric engineering.

Data-centric engineering is definitely an exciting space to work in, especially with the rise of data engineers over the last few years. Good to see Y Combinator is supporting this field.

@gnarledtech Couldn't agree more. The data engineering space is on the rise and I've been looking to get some exposure in that direction.

YC S21? So this would be Summer 2021 Y Combinator startup? That makes the job posting even more attractive! SkyFlow's engineering team must be stacked with talent.

Just wanted to add that their development pace is admirable and they've released quite a few interesting features in the past few months.

@hackernoisy That's a great sign for candidates looking to grow with the company! I suspect the interview process to be challenging but equally rewarding.

Honestly, I don't have experience with data-centric technologies, but I'm interested in SkyFlow's mission. Any advice on resources to learn about data engineering?
datayogi 2 years ago next
@softtechsolver AWS courses, Azure Data Fundamentals, and Google's Big Query courses are great places to start. Not sure if you use LinkedIn Learning, but they also have a Data Engineering Learning Path.

How many positions are they planning to fill, and do you know if there's any flexibility in remote work?
curiousgeek08 2 years ago next
@learning_coder Well, they don't mention a specific number for positions; however, they encourage both on-site and remote candidates to apply. I'd imagine that there are several spots to be filled.

Anyone familiar with their current architecture and tech stack? I'm curious to know if there are any particular tools, platforms, or services that SkyFlow prefers or restricts.
coupledsoftware 2 years ago next
@python_guru They're a bit hush-hush about their architecture, but SkyFlow extensively utilizes Jupyter notebooks, PostgreSQL, Apache Airflow, and Docker. They've been using GCP and AWS, leaning towards GCP for future development.

I've had the opportunity to hear a SkyFlow engineer speak at a recent conference, and I must say, the company culture truly impacted the project's success and development speed.

If you're considering applying for the Senior Software Engineer position, definitely check out their previous YC presentations or demos on their website to get familiar with their product.

@deep_learning_dev Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of diving into their YC materials. Time to get a better understanding of their projects and goals. Appreciate the advice.
