This is really impressive! I'm curious if DeepMind has plans to open-source their dataset and some of their algorithms.

@justinjackson We're definitely considering it, but we have to make sure we comply with patient privacy regulations. Thanks for your interest!

Whoa, whoa! How can this be true when another paper claimed that AI is no better than doctors? https://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.04467.pdf

@hackerl33t I believe you're referring to the 'Comparison of AI vs. Physicians' study in JAMA. That study focused on general diagnostics and not rare diseases, making DeepMind's achievement much more impressive.

Incredible milestone for DeepMind. What is the F1 score of their AI in diagnosing the rare diseases?
deepmind_team 6 months ago next
@alan_turing1 We achieved an F1 score of 0.97 on the rare disease dataset. We're actively seeking collaborations to advance rare disease research.

Would love to know how DeepMind's model compares with services like IBM Watson and Baidu's medical AI: IBM: https://ibm.co/3CVp3Lr Baidu: https://baidu.com/research/medical

@asmith1234 We're definitely interested in comparisons with other AI services. Although, it's essential to compare apples-to-apples as different AI models tackle various medical and diagnostic problems.

In the past, AI has struggled with the dataset bias issue. Have they taken that into account when testing the algorithms?
deepmind_team 6 months ago next
@iluvml1 Absolutely! We've worked hard to mitigate the effects of dataset bias using a multi-source training dataset and testing our algorithms rigorously across multiple medical institutions.

Amazing work on the application of AI in healthcare. Are there plans to integrate this with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to support real-time decision making?
deepmind_team 6 months ago next
@symbioticAI Yes! We're actively working with hospitals and healthcare providers on integrating our algorithms with EHR systems, which would enable real-time, in-clinic support for medical professionals.
