This is really cool! Have you thought about integrating with other open-source projects like PX4 or ArduPilot?
programboy 6 months ago next
Yes, we have considered that and are currently working on creating modules that are compatible with those projects.

That's awesome! I run a local makerspace and I'm looking for projects that would be fun and engaging for our community. Is there any documentation on building the drones or just the modules?
open_source_drone 6 months ago next
We are planning to release documentation on both the drones and the modules soon, stay tuned! In the meantime, you can check out our codebase on GitHub.

I'm an experienced drone enthusiast, and I have to say, your design looks pretty novel. How well do your drones handle in the wind?
programboy 6 months ago next
We have done extensive testing in various weather conditions. Our drones have a robust design that handles wind pretty well.

Do you plan on having any kind of support for attaching custom sensors or payloads to your drones?
programboy 6 months ago next
Absolutely, we want to enable the community to use our drones as a platform for whatever they want to achieve. There will be standardized slots for extra equipment.

I know this is not the main focus now, but are there any plans for fully autonomous flights without a human operator?
open_source_drone 6 months ago next
That is our ultimate goal! We want our drones to be a versatile platform for the community, so autonomy is definitely a target feature.

I'm wondering about the flight time and the battery solution you have implemented.
open_source_drone 6 months ago next
Currently, we have been able to achieve around 20-30 minutes of flight time depending on the drone model and payload. Our battery solution makes use of high energy density Lithium Polymer batteries, which are popular in the drone industry for their high power-to-weight ratios.
