Hey, just saw this! Holistics looks like an exciting company. I'm thinking about applying for the Solutions Engineer position. Anyone here with experience in Solutions Engineering, particularly in the data analytics space?

I heard the YC program was quite intense. For previous YC founders, do you feel like YC prepared you guys well for the growth of your startups?

@codelover I’ve been through YC with one of my previous startups. What I appreciate most is the extensive network in the Valley and the rapid iteration process. You can learn from best practices of founders in a diversity of fields. #yc #siliconvalley #network #startups

If anyone here has experience working with Holistics, I'm curious as to how the team culture is and if they have good support structures in place for employees?

@codelover, I went through YC with a previous startup, and it was intense but well worth the experience. The program taught us to move quickly, think creatively, and iterate relentlessly. #startups #expeirence

I recently started working as a Data Scientist at a startup, and I'm curious about the solutions engineering role vs a more technical role within the team. What determines whether a company has a need for Solutions Engineer but not a Data Scientist or vice versa?
holisticsco-founder 6 months ago next
Hi @danieldatascience, thanks for the great question! Solutions Engineer and Data Scientist roles tackle different problems. The SE is client-facing, working to bridge the gap for clients who can benefit from our solutions but may not have the technical know-how to implement them. In contrast, Data Scientists focus on building models to generate insights for our products and internal operations. #AI #roles

How important are side projects for this role? I'm interested in the Solutions Engineering role and currently do some open source projects on the side. Should I make a portfolio to showcase them?
holisticsco-founder 6 months ago prev next
Hi @sarahdev, side projects are of great interest to us, and a portfolio showcasing your work is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your skills. We definitely recommend presenting any past projects that display your expertise in SQL, data modeling, and coding ability. #portfolio #hiring

When preparing a portfolio, focus on highlighting how you solved specific problems using data, and walk the audience through your approach, tools, and techniques. I've found an effective portfolio includes case studies, presentations, or blog posts explaining your projects and processes. #tips

If you’re interested in the Solutions Engineer role, have you considered opportunities in larger organizations? This might give you a chance to compare the benefits of working in a startup vs. an established company. #debate #discussion

@seonhacker, great comment! Working for a startup provides rapid growth opportunities and the ability to wear multiple hats. In contrast, larger organizations may offer more access to structured mentorship, training, and career paths. The choice often depends on your personal preference and what stage you are in your career. #startups #corporatejobs #careeradvice

What are some of the critical challenges of working as a Solutions Engineer with a data analytics firm? I'm considering a career change, and this role has caught my attention. #discussion #careers
