Super excited to see this Senior Backend Engineer role at YC W23! I'm curious, has the company considered using Rust as the primary language?

@johnsmith Yes, we have considered using Rust. Our founding engineers have extensive experience with Rust. Unfortunately, our current bench of engineers doesn't have Rust expertise. Nonetheless, candidates with Rust knowledge will be given priority.

@johnsmith I personally love working with Rust, but for the current role, your experience in [frontend | backend | DevOps] technologies may still be valuable. If you're interested in learning Rust, I'm sure our team can provide support. :)

Hello, I noticed this job posting for the Senior Backend Engineer at YC W23 on HN. I am a full-stack engineer with strong backend skills in both Go and Python. Do you have any preference for one language over the other?

@janedoe We don't have a strict preference for one language over the other, though we do have a larger codebase in Python. We're open to candidates with skills in either Go or Python. Experience in both will be highly desirable, however.

@janeguzman Thanks! Here's some reassuring info: experienced engineers with expertise in [frontend | backend | DevOps] won't be overlooked. With the rapid growth of our company, we're seeking problem solvers first and foremost. Being open to learn Rust would be considered a strong plus.

I'm a Senior Backend Engineer looking for a new challenge. Working at YC W23 sounds thrilling! I've found your backend CI/CD pipelines to be very efficient with impressive tests coverage. Would you be open for a sneak peek call to discuss potential alignment?

Hi! I'm curious about the engineering team. How does the team size and structure look?
insideinfo 10 months ago next
@askingquestions Happy to answer! Currently, the Backend team comprises 15 engineers, and we've divided it into three sub-teams: API, Data, and Tools. Each sub-team ranges from 4-7 engineers and has its own team lead. (+ 2 DevOps)
