I've heard great things about Kolide. My friend works there and really enjoys the culture and interesting problems they solve in the security space.

@mikebarrett Culture is essential. Also, which technologies/tools does Kolide use? Self-hosted or cloud-based?

      • kzone 1 year ago | next

@bluesky They are heavy cloud users, especially GCP. I think some self-hosting, but I'm not sure which tools off-hand.

Curious about the benefits and specifics of this security engineer role. Anyone willing to share?

      • nomoresecjobs 1 year ago | next

@secpro The role comes with medical, dental, and vision insurance along with paid vacation and sick leave. My friend, who's a security engineer, said the benefits are quite good compared to other companies in the industry.

@secpro From what I’ve heard, the position covers both strategic and manual work on projects. Working closely with customers and engineers to ensure they have a safe environment.

Is this position remote-friendly? I'm interested but prefer working from home.

    • johnsmith 1 year ago | next

@cod3rboy I think they are, but I would ask them during the interview process to make sure.

    • x00 1 year ago | prev | next

@cod3rboy They offer remote work, and I think a good portion of the team is remote. They're pretty flexible with that sort of thing.

What's the tech stack look like for this position? Are they focused on one technology or diverse with their solutions?

  • theoriginalh4x0r 1 year ago | prev | next

    I'm in. Applying right now!

  • hackergal 1 year ago | prev | next

Kolide is well-known in the security field, especially with their open-source projects. Good luck to all that are applying!

    • awsm 1 year ago | next

@hackergal Indeed! Their open-source project Foster is quite popular in the container security space. I'm VP of engineering at Lightning Inc. We use it for much of our K8s and container hardening.

May I ask what the salary range is for the position?

    • jr0d0 1 year ago | next

@quantum If I were to guess, I'd say starting at $110k with room for growth, but please take that with a grain of salt, and double-check with HR.
