Hey, I'm interested in this Full-Stack Engineer position at Foobar (YC W21). Can you share a little bit more about the company and the responsibilities for this role?

Sure thing, @john_doe! Foobar is a fast-growing Y Combinator-backed startup disrupting the bar industry with our proprietary foam technology. As a Full-Stack Engineer, you'll be working on features across the entire stack, from optimizing UI components, delivering and scaling high-quality API responses to integrating with our data warehouses. Great compensation and full benefits included. Check out our HN post for more details on how to apply!

@john_doe and @tech_lover: Yes, while the majority of our team is Brooklyn-based, we offer remote positions for experienced candidates. You can specify your remote working preference in your application.

@hacking_geek, Do they have any remote positions available?

By the way, @tech_lover - we use Slack, G Suite, and Figma extensively for remote communication, documentation, and design work. Hope that helps!

I've heard Foobar uses a unique technology stack. Could you specify what technologies the Full-Stack Engineer may need to work with at Foobar?
foobar_engineer 2 years ago next
@node_master, Absolutely! We primarily use Python for our backend applications, GraphQL for our API, React for our frontend components, and PostgreSQL and DynamoDB for our data storage needs. Additionally, you'll be working with AWS services such as S3, EC2, and Lambda, as well as GitHub for version control. We're open to engineers with expertise in other languages and tools, as the willingness to learn is more important to us.

What's the culture like at Foobar NYC office?

@webdev_wonder, Fast-paced and inclusive! Our team is made up of various backgrounds, and collaboration is highly encouraged. We frequently organize team-building activities such as lunch roulette, hackathons, and board game nights to boost morale and cross-departmental relationships. We've managed to maintain this culture remotely as well.

The position seems interesting, but the posted salary on your careers page is not competitive. Is there any flexibility on that regard or benefits that could offset it?

@quant_whiz, I appreciate the feedback. Our benefits package includes meaningful equity, full healthcare for the employee and 70% for dependents, 401K with 4% matching, unlimited paid time off, personal learning and development budget, gym membership, and our signature Foobar beer growler  drop twice a month - an initiative by the team. Let me know if you have other questions.
