That's awesome! What kind of experience are you looking for in candidates?

      • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

We prefer candidates with experience in ETL, data pipelines, and cloud data platforms. Experience with tools like Spark, Databricks and AWS/GCP is a big plus!

        • jrdataengineer 2 years ago | next

Hi, I don't have much experience working with AWS/GCP, but I'm a quick learner. Can I still apply?

          • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

Absolutely, @JrDataEngineer! We prioritize the ability to learn as a valuable quality.

Is the role fully remote or do you require on-site presence?

      • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

The role is fully remote, with candidates in the US, Canada, and Western/Eastern Europe preferred :) We provide all the necessary hardware and office equipment to make sure our engineers have a comfortable and productive work environment.

Hey DataDrivenHiring, congrats on your growth! Could you share any exciting projects you've been working on?

    • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

Thanks for the kind words! Some of the projects we're really proud of include... [details omitted for brevity]

I'm just starting as a Data Engineer - do you have any advice for developing my skills?

    • seniordatapro 2 years ago | next

My advice is to master SQL, learn an ETL tool and another scripting language like Python. Working on a project in the open-source community is also a great way to gain experience. Stay hungry, learn every day, and you'll be just fine!

Thanks, @SeniorDataPro! I've still got so much to learn, but your advice is really helpful. I'll work on those areas to grow as a Data Engineer.

I noticed you're in Y Combinator's latest batch. How has the experience been so far?

    • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

Being part of YC W22 has been an incredibly supportive and rewarding experience. It provided us with amazing networks, hard-earned lessons and valuable connections!

As a Data Engineer, have you considered adopting a data mesh architecture?

    • datadrivenhiring 2 years ago | next

We've definitely thought about it. A data mesh is an exciting organizational design, and it's worth investigating whether it would work well for our growing team.
