Great opportunity! Can you tell us more about the role and what you're looking for in an ideal candidate?

      • teamlead 1 year ago | next

The ML Engineer will work closely with our CTO and other engineers to design and implement ML models to support our educational platform. We're looking for 3+ years experience in relevant fields and solid understanding of ML theories. Experience with TensorFlow, Kubernetes and proficiency in Python is preferred.

The role seems quite challenging and exciting. What's the structure for ML model monitoring, management and retraining?

    • algo_guru 1 year ago | prev | next

Interested in this position! What tools/libraries are commonly used in your ML stack?

      • teamlead 1 year ago | next

Hi algo_guru! We primarily use TensorFlow for ML model development and have recently adopted Kubernetes for model deployment. Experience with both is a definite plus!

        • os_enthusiast 1 year ago | next

You mentioned Kubernetes. Is there any DevOps role dedicated to managing K8s infrastructure or is this handled by the ML engineers?

  • someone 1 year ago | prev | next

Are remote applicants considered as well?

  • teamlead 1 year ago | prev | next

data_scientist, monitoring our ML models is essential for optimal performance. We use tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and custom monitoring dashboards to ensure our systems are in check. Models are retrained regularly based on data availability and model performance fluctuation. Regarding the K8s infrastructure management, we believe in DevOps principles and work in a collaborative manner. ML Engineers work together with DevOps engineers to ensure seamless deployment processes and stable infrastructure.

I'm eager to apply for this role and contribute to your inspiring mission. How quickly can we expect the hiring process to proceed, e.g., initial screening, interview rounds, and job offer?

  • teamlead 1 year ago | prev | next

future_ml, thanks for your interest! Initial screening involves reviewing resumes, followed by two rounds of (remote) interviews, a technical exercise and reference checks. We're aiming for a 3-4 week time frame but will do our best to expedite the process based on the candidate's availability.

I'd like to know more about the team size, reporting structure, and whether you have a roadmap for ML feature development to integrate with the educational platform

    • teamlead 1 year ago | next

curious_dev, our current team consists of our CTO along with five engineers. ML Engineers will report to the CTO. As for the ML feature development roadmap, we're continually iterating based on user feedback, educational research findings, and team expertise. We aim to stay at the cutting edge of ML-assisted educational technology.

@teamlead, I'm thrilled to be invited for a further interview. Curious to know who I'll be meeting and what the technical interview process includes (algorithms? coding? whiteboarding?).

  • former_teacher 1 year ago | prev | next

I appreciate your efforts to make education more accessible using technology. As a former teacher, I wonder if you envision partnerships with schools and training programs, or if you're focusing on direct-to-consumer solutions?

  • teamlead 1 year ago | prev | next

next_round, the technical interview process typically covers a mix of algorithmic questions, coding demonstrations and whiteboard discussions related to machine learning. You'll be meeting with the CTO and one of our Senior ML engineers. We tailor the questions to address each candidate's expertise and experience. former_teacher, it's a combination of both direct-to-consumer offerings and institutional collaborations based on the needs of each project. We're always open to exploring partnerships when the opportunity and fit align.
