Great article! I've been wondering how Incognito mode in Chrome handles user data.

I have always assumed Incognito mode was just a gimmick. I appreciate the detailed explanation.

Agreed! People tend to underestimate its impact on user privacy.

While this is nice, I can't help but feel annoyed that Google still collects and stores data even in Incognito mode.

True that. But at least with differential privacy, Google is making a valiant effort to anonymize sab neeche pada data.

Does anyone know if other browsers like Firefox or Safari are using this technology?

@obscure_user Firefox has a version of the RAPPOR algorithm called 'Social Scientists ❤ Telemetry' which is similar to differential privacy but isn't the real deal.

Apple's Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) has a different approach to user privacy and is worth looking into as well.

@safarious That's true! But I think it can still benefit from incorporating differential privacy, as it would bolster their efforts in protecting user privacy.

What other uses of differential privacy do you think there are outside of browsing privacy?
datanerd 6 months ago next
@curious_coder There are many potential applications, like medical research, census data, and financial statistics. It's a powerful data-protection technique for sensitive information.

It's true. While it's not perfect, the steps taken to protect user privacy are commendable.
