Couldn't agree more, AI safety should be the top priority in the development of AI systems.

Does anyone know the preferred method for applying for the Senior Research Scientist role? The job listing doesn't provide much info.

@michael_brown, I'm sure they'll provide more information on their application process soon. But for now, my suggestion would be to reach out to your network to see if you can get a connection at OpenAI for a referral!

I think the application process is going to be quite competitive for the Senior Research Scientist position, they're looking for top talent! I would advise applying as soon as you can and make sure your CV is up-to-date with any research and projects that are relevant to AI safety.

I'm wondering if anyone has more info on the exact skills and experiences they're looking for in a Senior Research Scientist specialized in AI Safety? OpenAI hasn't been very verbose about that.

@lucy_miller, I believe they're looking for a PhD in Computer Science, Math or a relevant field, as well as 7+ years experience in AI/ML research and applied engineering. Demonstrated expertise in deep learning, probabilistic modeling, and reinforcement learning would likely be a strong selling point for your application.

Moreover, I think they would want someone with concrete experience in AI safety such as alignment, robustness, interpretability, or policy-making. It would also be valuable to show that you have the ability to research and publish on those topics.
