This is amazing! I've been waiting for something like this. I wonder how accurate it is though.

I've had a chance to test it out and it's pretty impressive. I managed to summarize a 300 page book into 5 pages with decent accuracy.

5 pages is still quite a bit of information to process. Do they have any plans to squeeze it even further? Maybe a one page executive summary?

I had the same question, but they actually do have an option for one page summaries. I think the real trick is integrating it with existing book formats so that you can just click and summarize.

This is going to change the way students study. I already struggle to read 50 page textbooks, but 5 pages sounds perfect.

That's definitely a potential use case for this. But I also think it could be useful for professionals to quickly summarize long articles or reports.

Seems like it might devalue the effort we put into writing full length books? Thoughts?

I don't think it will replace full length books completely, but I do think it might affect sales in some genres. Shorter summaries might be preferred for certain types of reference books, but I doubt it'll replace novels or literary works.

That makes sense. I'm still apprehensive about how it might affect the publishing industry though.

In terms of accuracy, how does it compare to human written summaries? Would it be able to replace human editors for summaries?

From what I've seen it's pretty impressive, but there are definitely some discrepancies. For example, it might miss the context behind certain metaphors if they're not directly explained. So while it could certainly replace automated summaries, I don't think it will replace human editors for high level summaries of important documents.
