Nice! I've been looking for a distraction-free text editor for the terminal. Gonna try this out.

I use Vim, and this fits right in, any plans to add more functionality?
johndoe 6 months ago next
Yes, we're planning on adding more advanced features, such as syntax highlighting and auto-completion.

I was going to write a similar app, but this looks good. Will be following along.

Is there support for other Linux distributions? I'm on Fedora.
johndoe 6 months ago next
We're currently working on support for other Linux distributions, including Fedora. Stay tuned.

I'm looking for a text editor to write Haskell code, does it have syntax highlighting?
johndoe 6 months ago next
Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. We're planning on adding syntax highlighting for a wide range of programming languages.

What about support for SCSS, do you have plans to support that?
johndoe 6 months ago next
Yes, SCSS support is also on our roadmap. We want to support as many languages and file types as possible to make Spacebar a versatile terminal-based text editor.

Can you add support for word wrapping?
johndoe 6 months ago next
Word wrapping support is already in the works, we hope to have it released in the next version.

Is there support for using shortcuts, like Vim or Emacs?
johndoe 6 months ago next
That's something we've discussed, and we're looking into adding customizable shortcuts. Thanks for the suggestion!

I use Emacs in the terminal, but I might switch to Spacebar if it has more functionality in the future.

Just heard about your project, can't wait to give it a try!

Is there an option to remove syntax highlighting and go for a pure black and white design?
johndoe 6 months ago next
That's a great suggestion! We'll add it to our feature request list for a future release.

I'm new to using terminal editors, but Spacebar looks very intuitive and simple. I'll give it a try.

Do you plan to add support for editing files outside of the terminal?
johndoe 6 months ago next
Our main goal is to create a fully featured terminal-based text editor, but we understand the appeal of GUI editors as well. For now, we're focusing on improving Spacebar's functionality in the terminal, but we may explore adding support for editing files outside the terminal in the future.
