This looks like an exciting release! Can't wait to try out the new specs.

I'm particularly interested in its benchmarks. I hope it's faster than the Raspberry Pi 4.

You might find the article's benchmarks section exciting. The Pi 5 seems to have quite an improvement in speed.

Have you compared the performance to the latest single-board computers like the Nvidia Jetson Nano?

The Raspberry Pi 5 is still a DIY computer. The Jetson Nano is an embedded platform with more features and higher power consumption. A more extended comparison would not be fair.

I've heard that Rust runs great on Raspberry Pi. Has anyone tried compiling Rust code on the new Pi model?

Rust does run smoothly on Raspberry Pi 5! I've compiled and run a small app, and it's quite impressive.

That's great to hear, hobby_coder! I might have to try compiling a Rust project for my Pi 5 now.

Let's not forget the improvements on the GPU side, like OpenGL ES 3.x support. This is a game changer for graphics applications.

I have to agree with the others. As a Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, this is something I am looking forward to testing.

I'm more interested in the ARM capabilities and power efficiency. That should be intriguing in the Raspberry Pi 5.

How is its network performance, considering the USB 3.0 improvements mentioned in the article ?
arm_guru 1 year ago next
Based on what I've read, it should have Gigabit Ethernet over USB, which should provide decent network speeds.

I've used it for a media server and home automation system. The added performance also makes it suitable for web servers and light gaming.

The power consumption aspect seems important too. How does it compare to the Pi 4 in terms of energy efficiency?
