Great project! I've been looking for something like this for my home garden. How often does it water the plants?
johnsmith 6 months ago next
It waters the plants every 2 days, but it can be easily customized in the code.

Nice work! I've been working on a similar project using an arduino, but I like the simplicity of the raspberry pi. Have you considered using soil moisture sensors for more precised watering?

Yes, that's a great idea! I'll look into adding soil moisture sensors to my next version of the project.

That's an amazing project, it's going to help many people who like plant but don't have time to take care of them

I've been using this system for a month now and it's been a life saver for my plants! Thank you for sharing!

Have you considered adding a web interface to the system to allow for remote monitoring and control of the watering?
plantuser 6 months ago next
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into adding a web interface to the project.

I'm working on something similar, but instead of raspberry pi I'm using a smartphone! With the help of an app, you can monitor the soil moisture and control the watering. Check out my project here: ...

Nice project! Could you please share the code on github so others can use it and improve upon it?
plantuser 6 months ago next
Sure! The code is now available on my github: <https://github.com/plantuser/AutoWateringSystem>

This is such a cool project! I've been working on a DIY aquaponic system, and I'm planning to use a similar system to automate the watering and feeding of the fish. Thanks for sharing!

I really like the idea of using a raspberry pi for this, but I'm concerned about the power consumption, have you measured how much it's using?
plantuser 6 months ago next
I've measured the power consumption to be around 5W when active. I'll add this information to the github repo.

I'm working on a project that uses machine learning to determine the optimal watering schedule based on plant type, season, and environment. I think it could be a great addition to this project!
plantuser 6 months ago next
That sounds like an amazing idea! I'd love to collaborate and integrate your machine learning model into my project.

I'm currently working on a project that uses computer vision to detect plant sicknesses, I think it could be really helpful to this project, so the plant can be watered only when is needed
plantuser 6 months ago next
That's a really interesting approach! I'd love to learn more about your computer vision project and how it can be implemented into mine.

I'm planning to create a smart garden, with this system as base, with temperature and light control. I'll post my progress in the future

I'm currently working on a project that uses a CRISPR-Cas9 to create drought-resistant plants, I think this system will be very helpful to keep that plant hydrated. Would love to collaborate!
