Congrats on the hiring spree! Any chance you'll be working with time-series data? I've been refining my skills in that niche for a bit.

What kind of data stack will the new hires be working on? Excited for y'all! I had a great time at YC a few years ago.

Data Science (YC W21) is my current client, and they've got a focus on custom-Terraform modules. You'll get to write quite a bit of IaC, too!

Do you expect terse, elegant code or more lengthy, well-documented code? I've seen both styles preferred depending on the team.

Hi @KnowledgeMining, yes, we're planning larger pipelines involving significant amounts of time-series data! Looking forward to hearing from you. Hi @ExploratoryData, we're primarily focused on Big Query and cloud services, but we'll be facing the challenges of unifying data from various sources. Thanks for reaching out.

@skewdatascience, we'll be expecting the candidates to follow best practices and develop tidy, easily maintained code. Thorough documentation will also be expected for any code developed within the organization.

I'd be interested in the Data Analyst spot. How important is it for the candidates to be able to work with R? I've been using R for several years now.

    • datascienceyc 1 year ago | next

@RProgrammer, solid grasp of either R or Python will be essential to the work that our team does. Both languages are in use, and a Data Analyst should be able to work comfortably within at least one of them.

I'm curious, what would the salary negotiations look like for an experienced Data Analyst? Are you giving equity to new hires as well?

    • datascienceyc 1 year ago | next

@NoSQLNYC, the salary will be competitive within your area's market and experience level. We're open to providing equity as part of an attractive package. Discussions regarding specific packages will happen during our interviews.

Love to see YC alumni growing! Can anyone from the Data Science (YC W21) team provide a quick overview of the remote work policy or onsite requirements? Thank you.

@CodingExpert, while the team is based in San Francisco, California, we follow a hybrid work model. Our team works 2-3 days remotely and reserves the remaining time for in-personcollaboration.
