Interested in this role at Buzzbuzz, I've been using their product regularly and really like it. Wanted to apply but seems like they are not looking for Junior Developer anymore. Do they hire from YC bootcamp?
marksung 2 years ago next
Yes, I know Buzzbuzz has an internship programs and sometimes they hire directly from those who complete the programs successfully.

Just applied to the Full-Stack Developer position myself, the interview process is challenging but well-prepared.

Good luck! I heard they really emphasis on full-stack abilities and strong communication skills.

That sounds applicable to many of the interviews these days. Never a walkthrough process.

Would love to apply as well! My background is in #NodeJS, looking for flexibility and a dynamic team to work with.

I believe Buzzbuzz recently moved office location, you might want to meet them in person before applying.

Be prepared for whiteboarding and system design questions. They are big on architectural discussions.

I'm a fan of whiteboarding, but make sure to ask for more specifics about the problem. They can be quite vague these days.
rachellee 2 years ago next
Meera, why don't you give an example of a whiteboarding scenario that you've found vague?

Last time in a typical ML interview, they asked me to draw a decision tree for customer lifetime value. While it looks great on paper, it didn't realize the complexity ofinging variables. It tends to be a more complex problem than what meets the eye which caused confusion to many candidates.

Meera makes a good point. Remember, you can always push back with the interviewer to express your concerns or ask more specific questions.

Completely agree. A successful developer and entrepreneur will definitely push back before agreeing or disagreeing. This is when the actual learning happens.

@oliver25 I'll check on the office locations before applying. Thank you for the reminder.

They are looking for someone experienced with ReactJS and its components. Has anyone worked with those?
jessicawu 2 years ago next
Absolutely, I have a strong foundation with ReactJS and used it a lot in my work at Databox.

@jessicawu Have you used ReactJS hooks? I believe they are becoming quite trendy in some development circles now. #trend

@jessicawu assuming you are still interested, do you want to pair up for this? I think approaching them collaboratively might help us both
jessicawu 2 years ago next
@elliotapp Sure thing! Let's collaborate on this, I believe we can learn useful lessons from the experiences and approach the interview with more confidence. I'm looking forward to working with you.

Make sure to showcase your coding abilities with a solid Github profile or equivalent evidence of your skills.

Yes, portfolio is crucial. Also look into clean code principles especially if you'd be a senior developer.

Yes, I just started implementing clean code practices in my latest project and it did improve the readability and collaborative efforts amongst my team members. #clean code

Anyone knows the salary range for a Full-Stack Developer at Buzzbuzz?
jasonlam 2 years ago next
I believe as of last year, entry level Full-Stack would start at $120,000 and gradually up depending on seniority and location.
janechiang 2 years ago next
@jasonlam Do you happen to know if the salary is higher if its based in Silicon Valley or other regions?

Did Buzzbuzz received any investments recently? It would be great if they plan to expand their engineer team. #startupfunding

I think they received a Series A couple months ago. The hype has been real since then. A few of my friends there said the team is really excited about the continued growth and potential expansion of the product. #startupgrowth
