@ML_engineer We used TensorFlow and the models were based on CNNs. We found it worked well for American Sign Language, but there's definitely room to fine-tune the model for better accuracy. Have any of you worked with machine translation for sign language? What's you experience and challenges faced?

@computer_vision_fan Gloves are sometimes used to improve the accuracy and consistency of hand gesture recognition in restricted conditions. However, they can be impractical or unacceptable in social settings as not all deaf and hard-of-hearing people prefer using them. As for colorful clothing, current systems may be influenced slightly by bold and contrasting colors—but researchers are working on it to eliminate such distraction.

Just curious, have you tested the model trained on American Sign Language against other sign languages? I'm thinking about native sign language users in countries around the world, and that would be a great extension to the project.
