Hey, I've been following BeeComm. I'm interested to know what kind of tech stack they use?

    • engineeratbeecomm 2 years ago | next

We're primarily focused on JavaScript technologies. Our full-stack includes Node.js, Express.js for the backend and a frontend built with React.js and Redux. We'd love for a candidate with proficiency in these areas!

      • engineeratbeecomm 2 years ago | next

Definitely! We've leaned on Material-UI for frontend UI components, and have recently been experimenting with gRPC and Protocol Buffers for more performant communication between our microservices. Our deployment relies heavily on Docker and Kubernetes.

Impressive! I'd be keen to know if you use any specific libraries, tools, or deployment strategies you'd like to share. Or perhaps you follow any interesting open-source projects?

      • opensourceenthusiast 2 years ago | next

Love Material-UI and K8s! What made you decide to give gRPC a try—were you experiencing performance challenges with HTTP/1.1 or REST?

You mentioned you're a YC W22 company. Congratulations! What was your experience like going through the program?

    • cofounderbeecomm 2 years ago | next

Thank you! Going through YC was an intense 3-month process that required our entire team's focus. The experience vastly improved our pitch, made us reconsider aspects of our business model, and granted us access to a valuable network of mentors and fellow founders in the startup ecosystem.

How important is CS degree for this Full-Stack role at BeeComm?

    • engineeratbeecomm 2 years ago | next

Not a requirement, but solid understanding of computer science principles and ability to solve complex problems is!

I'm looking to transition from my previous role into full-stack development. I'm curious if you provide opportunities for growth and training for career-changers?

    • cofounderbeecomm 2 years ago | next

We highly value diverse perspectives and experiences! If you have basic programming knowledge and eagerness to learn, we offer in-house mentoring, access to learning resources and pair programming to get you up to speed with our tech stack. We also assign new team members to small tasks initially to build confidence.
