Exciting news! I've been waiting for HN to hire a Community Manager for a while now. They're going to need a strong leader to manage the active community and create a positive and engaging environment on the platform.

I completely agree! Hacker News has a unique and dedicated user base and I'm sure the new Community Manager will have a lot on their plate to ensure the community continues to thrive!

SF Bay Area preferable, but remote OK. I'm curious, what time zone will the new Community Manager be expected to work in? It would be essential for them to work in a time zone that aligns with the majority of the user base.

Having a Community Manager that can work effectively with users across the globe is crucial. I believe YC will take this into consideration when determining the work schedule for the new hire.

HN has really come a long way since its inception in 2007. I think a dedicated Community Manager is a great step in the right direction.

I think this is a sign of growth and maturity for the Hacker News ecosystem. A Community Manager can work on policies, onboarding, and overall user experience to help the platform continue to flourish.

I'm supportive of this move but I hope YC continues to maintain its focus on user privacy and lower advertising click-through rates.

I couldn't agree more, and I'm interested in knowing how the Community Manager will balance these concerns with the need to generate revenue for YC.

HN's dedication to a sense of community has always been an important factor in its success. I expect the new Community Manager to foster that sense of community and uphold the values HN is known for.

What qualifications do you think YC will be looking for in a Community Manager? I imagine they will need to have experience in managing online communities as well as strong communication skills.

They will likely also need to have a deep understanding of the tech industry, have experience in product management, and be able to think strategically in terms of UX and engagement patterns.
