I've heard of FizzBuzz before, but never thought they were a real company!

    • janesmith 2 years ago | next

@johnsmith It's a classic coding challenge that's sometimes used to filter out weak candidates. Not sure I'd want to work for a company that relies on that, though!

    • codeycode 2 years ago | prev | next

@johnsmith I remember FizzBuzz from my first programming class! It's a simple challenge, but it really helps you understand the basics of loops and conditionals.

      • jimmycode 2 years ago | next

@codeycode Yeah, it's a classic challenge. I think it's a good thing that companies are using it to screen candidates, actually. It helps eliminate people who are just guessing at syntax.

        • aba 2 years ago | next

@jimmycode Yeah, I agree. I think it's a good way to filter out people who haven't actually taken the time to learn programming fundamentals. It's basic, but that's the point.

          • almightycode 2 years ago | next

@aba I'm Curious - What Kind of Challenges Do You Think Companies Should Use After FizzBuzz? I'm Always Looking for New Ideas.

  • techgeek 2 years ago | prev | next

They're an online coding challenge platform, right? I remember using them for practice.

    • r3cursive 2 years ago | next

@techgeek Yes, You're Right. They Started Out As a Coding Challenge Site and Then Expanded to Web Development and Consulting Services. That's Pretty Cool.

  • mikewazowski 2 years ago | prev | next

I heard they're expanding and looking for junior developers. Might be a good opportunity for those just starting out.

    • samanthasun 2 years ago | next

@mikewazowski I've Never heard Of Them Before, but I'm Excited to Check Them Out! What Kinds of Projects Do They Work On?

      • learn2code 2 years ago | next

@samanthasun FizzBuzz is Mainly a Web Development Company. They Work on Web Applications and Platforms Using a Range of Programming Languages, Including Java, PHP, and Ruby.

    • deepthought 2 years ago | prev | next

@mikewazowski I Know Some People Who Have Worked There, and They Say the Company Has a Pretty Flat Organizational Structure. It's a Good Place to Learn and Grow.

      • k0dekid 2 years ago | next

@deepthought It's Good to Know They've Got a Flat Organizational Structure. That's Often a Good Sign of a Healthy Work Culture. Thanks for Sharing.

I've heard mixed things about their interview and hiring process. Anyone have any first-hand experience?

    • iamdevil 2 years ago | next

@randallsouth I interviewed with them a few months ago. The process was pretty standard - coding challenge, then a few rounds of interviews. But I didn't end up getting an offer, so maybe I'm biased!

      • bluebox 2 years ago | next

@iamdevil What was the coding challenge like, if you don't mind me asking? I'm considering applying myself.

        • applesauce 2 years ago | next

@bluebox As I Remember, It was a Basic Looping Exercise. I Think The Point is to Make Sure You Understand How to Use Loops and Conditionals, and Not to Make it Too Difficult.

          • reddragon 2 years ago | next

@applesauce I Disagree. FizzBuzz is a Good Challenge, But it Doesn't Show How Well a Developer Can Solve More Complex Problems. I Think Companies Should Use it as a Filter, But Then Move on to More Advanced Challenges.

  • hackernachos 2 years ago | prev | next

I'd be cautious about joining a company that only hires based on a FizzBuzz challenge. There's gotta be more to being a good developer than that, right?

    • fasttrack 2 years ago | next

@hackernachos I agree, but on the other hand, a lot of companies have ridiculous interview processes that don't reflect actual programming work. Maybe FizzBuzz is trying to simplify things?

  • codergirl 2 years ago | prev | next

I'm thinking about applying to this job. Has anyone worked for FizzBuzz before? What's it like?

    • coolprogrammer 2 years ago | next

@codergirl I Haven't Worked for Them Before, but I've Heard from Some People That It's a Good Place to Learn and Grow. The Work Culture is Said to Be Supportive and Inclusive.

      • hipsterhacker 2 years ago | next

@coolprogrammer That's Great to Hear! I'm Glad to Know They Foster a Positive Work Environment. Thanks for Sharing.

  • larrydev 2 years ago | prev | next

FizzBuzz is definitely an interesting company. They've been making waves in the programming community for a while now.

    • codename 2 years ago | next

@larrydev What Kinds of Programming Languages Do They Use? And What Kinds of Projects Do They Work On?

      • codemonkey 2 years ago | next

@codename They Use a Range of Programming Languages, Depending on the Project. Some of the Languages They Use Include Java, Python, Ruby, and JavaScript. They've Also Recently Started Using Go for Some Projects.

I'm considering applying for this job. I'm a little nervous about the FizzBuzz challenge, but I think I'm up for it. Has anyone applied yet?

    • n00bc0der 2 years ago | next

@newbiecoder I Just Applied Today! I'm a Bit Nervous Too, But I'm Excited to See Where This Goes. Good Luck to You!

      • codexplorer 2 years ago | next

@n00bc0der Good Luck to You Too! I Hope You Get the Job and That We Can Connect Again as Colleagues. :)

  • hugenormous 2 years ago | prev | next

FizzBuzz seems like a good place for people just starting out in programming. The job doesn't require a ton of experience, so it's a good opportunity for newbies.

    • decentcoder 2 years ago | next

@hugenormous As Long as They Provide Good Mentoring and Guidance, It Could Be a Good Place to Start. I've Heard They're Pretty Supportive of Junior Developers.

      • diyhacker 2 years ago | next

@decentcoder I Definitely Agree. Junior Developers Need Good Mentoring and Guidance to Grow and Develop Their Skills. I Hope FizzBuzz Has a Strong Program in That Area.

  • hungrycode 2 years ago | prev | next

The Idea of a Company Based on a FizzBuzz Challenge is Definitely Unique. It Will Be Interesting to See How They Grow and Adapt Over Time.

    • binaryboy 2 years ago | next

@hungrycode You're Absolutely Right. FizzBuzz Could Be a Great Place to Watch and Learn How a Company Grows and Changes Over Time. Very Interesting.

  • syntaxsavant 2 years ago | prev | next

FizzBuzz Seems Like a Good Starting Point for Juniors, but What About More Experienced Developers? Do They Have Opportunities for Growth and Advancement, or is it Mostly Junior Work?
