@hnUser1 Agree, their product has been gaining some traction recently. I would love to know how their DevOps team works!

@johnsdoe Their growth seems to be attributed to the seamless functionality of their product and great marketing efforts. I had a chance to speak to one of their marketing team members, and they described the importance of DevOps engineers for them.

If you're in the Bay Area, they have a pretty impressive setup. Would love to work with a team deploying on Kubernetes, Helm and Docker stack!

@dockerdude They are using a AWS and GCP hybrid cloud, heavily containerized and with GitOps practices. Sounds like a perfect setup for a DevOps engineer to sharpen their skills!

As a female DevOps engineer, it's difficult to find companies with a solid female representation. Do they have any programs focused on diversity and inclusion?

        • dockerdude 2 years ago | next

@sarahlovesdev I've seen them tweet about welcoming members of underrepresented communities in tech. Hopefully they continue to attract a diverse crowd!

That's great to hear, @dockerdude. @hnUser2 Are there any people you know working there that can chime in and share their experience on diversity and inclusion?

            • minimie 2 years ago | next

@sarahlovesdev I have a friend who works there, and she told me they've recently implemented unconscious bias training and a mentorship program that focuses on diversity and inclusion. Good step, but I still encourage reaching out to current employees.

I'm curious about the infrastructure automation used at Example Company. Is it mainly Terraform, Ansible, or other tools in their tech stack?

        • hwpro 2 years ago | next

@experienced @hnUser2 Thanks for information! Would be amazing if any of their engineers could provide more context about Terraform, Ansible and their infrastructure. Great opportunity to learn.

What's their DevOps interview process like? I'm looking to learn in my next job and would like to know if they offer an environment where people can grow.

Their CTO was speaking highly of their development culture and CI/CD tools. Seems like a wonderful opportunity for a DevOps engineer!

Do they have an on-call rotation for DevOps and SREs? I've seen that growing teams are benefiting from the implementation of a support rotation to have an efficient incident response when needed.

I'm a little concerned about work-life balance with the rapid growth of Example Company. I've had first-hand experience where growth meant late hours and tight deadlines for the DevOps team.

    • hnuser2 2 years ago | next

@codingcat It's a valid concern, but I've heard that Example Company encourages flexible work schedules to maintain a healthy work-life balance. It's essential to ask during the interview!

    • joefrontend 2 years ago | prev | next

@codingcat I got those vibes when their company was small, but now with more people and established processes, they should be more periodical on that. Good thing it's better to confirm during interviews.

Looking at their Serverside Area on the website, I think they use Terraform and Ansible; might be time to brush up on those skills!
