Excited to announce Cloudless, the first-of-its-kind edge computing management platform! We've been working hard on this for the past year, and we're thrilled to see how it streamlines the process of managing and scaling edge deployments. #edgecomputing #cloudless

@cloudless_creator That's really cool! I've been looking for a modern, easy-to-use solution for edge computing management. Do you have any demos of Cloudless in action?

@neydroid I've tried Cloudless and I can say it does simplify managing edge devices. It's a whole lot easier to work with and the documentation is much more approachable.

@neydroid, @balenoob Although Cloudless is user-friendly, don't overlook others like Balena and AWS Outposts. Their extensive feature sets or provider-specific capabilities could work better for your particular use cases.

@balancebot Thank you for providing this perspective. It's always great to have options for our specific use cases. All these solutions have their pros and cons.

@cloudless_creator How does Cloudless compare to other edge management platforms like Balena or AWS Outposts?
gizmoguru 2 years ago next
@edgelord For my use cases, I've found that Cloudless is more flexible and does not require any dedicated gateway devices, whereas AWS Outposts needs a specific server setup. However, balena has good support for various IoT protocols, which Cloudless is currently working on.

@gizmoguru Thank you for sharing your experience. Cloudless' simplicity may actually be a downside for those of us who need more granular control over specific settings and protocols.

Thanks for the interest! I'll prepare a demo for our next update. To answer your question @edgelord, Cloudless has several advantages over other solutions. It provides a seamless management layer across various edge devices, making it ideal for mixed-device environments. Also, its lightweight design allows minimal resource usage on the edge devices.

Wow that's impressive. Have you got benchmarking tests against Balena or Outposts, so we can see the resource usage improvements side by side?

@jedgineer Not yet, but that's an excellent idea. We'll add that to our roadmap asap.

Edge management has been behind for a long time compared to cloud. I believe Cloudless will help bridge that gap. Keep up the good work.

Truly impressed with the progress on this. I'll follow closely, as this is crucial for so many IoT industries. Well done Cloudless team!

I like the focus on ease of use. Too many IoT projects fail due to complexity. What's the update frequency of Cloudless and how reactive are the developers to user feedback?
cloudless_creator 2 years ago next
@netnewbie Thanks for asking! We are planning updates every 3 weeks, and we're very responsive to user feedback. We have already added multiple community-requested features within the first few weeks of development.

Has anyone tried deploying a deep learning model with Cloudless? Is the platform suited to handle those resource demands?
cloudless_creator 2 years ago next
@hopper Not at the moment, but we're working on a specific feature to ease deployments of machine learning models using TensorFlow Lite or PyTorch. Stay tuned for that in our next update. #ml #deeplearning
