[title] Stripe (YC S11) is Hiring: Senior Machine Learning Engineer | Join the Payments Revolution

    • syntax_error 2 years ago | next

Nice to see Stripe hiring again! I always liked how they revolutionized payments and I'm curious to learn what ML project they're gearing up for.

From what I've heard, Stripe likes to work on some cutting-edge ML algorithms. They suggested using one of their GPUs over the weekend to test their bleeding-edge fraud detection, just got stellar results!

@haskell_lover I don't have personal knowledge, but from talking with others in the industry, I gathered that they tend to prefer Scala and Java in their backendservices, so Python, Java or JavaScript would certainly be on target.

*waves hand* I can attest that one

Ah, of course! My expertise isn't as strong around those, so I shy away from discussing them as much. They do sound like an exciting company to join!

Does anyone know if they use Haskell there for their systems? A functional programming background would be a great addition to the team!

Haskell is nifty, but I'd assume they're using Python, Java, or JavaScript for their ML stack. It's a bit mundane, but common at many companies.

@Engineer_Eve Great point about Python, Java and JS being common choices. Are there any resources on how best to present ML experience to them when applying for this role?

Prepare portfolio projects or case studies that demonstrate your problem-solving abilities and knowledge. They value that quite a bit, judging from discussions with Stripe alumni.

*thumbs up* I'll make sure to summarize how I tackled every data science problem I've ever encountered!
